On behalf of the Secretariat and the Organisational Team, it is our honour to announce that the yearly KULMUN Conference will return for an 8th consecutive edition!

KULMUN 2018 will take place from Tuesday 6 March until Saturday 10 March 2018. During these five days, the picturesque and cosy city of Leuven, Belgium will be the decor of challenging committee sessions and superb socials. Moreover for the first time ever, we will be entertaining a pre-conference activity on Monday 5 March: a visit to the European Parliament with afterwards an interview moment with a MEP.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The first wave of applications will be opened until Saturday 10 December, 23:59. You can apply by filling in this registration form. Please note that all payments will have to be made right at the end of this application. Therefore, please make sure you have your debit/credit card with you. Payments can be made using VISA, Mastercard or American Express.
You will receive your committee and country allocation within two weeks after the end of the application wave.

Only applicants having finished high school are eligible for delegate spots at KULMUN 2018.

Note: there is a possibility for delegations to pay by bank transfer.

CONFERENCE THEME
“Refocus: Changing the scene of international politics”
While we are confronted with an ever increasingly connected world, it must be admitted that many topics do not reach our daily life. The causes are multiple: no interest value for the established media, no sufficient interests at stake, general uninterest of the public, effective censorship, ...
Therefore this edition of KULMUN will try to address those elements which are often overlooked. Be it by simulating less known committees or by discussing misknown topics, we hope to present our chairs and delegates alike with situations they have not had the pleasure yet to debate and lobby about.

COMMITTEES
Standing still is going backwards, so we worked very hard to innovate yet again at KULMUN. As conceived in our theme, we have the pleasure to simulate following committees for the first time ever at KULMUN: The UN Sixth Committee (Legal), the OECD and the Special Committee on Decolonization, with the added benefit that this one will also be the first historical council ever at KULMUN! Some classics such as the Security Council and SOCHUM are also back but with very peculiar topics. NATO is also back but do not be fooled, it will be revolutionary: For the first time ever at a MUN Conference, we will host the consensus based approach (CBA) in a committee. This method encourages delegates to a more flexible interpretation of the Rules of Procedure and promotes a more direct way of negotiation through active listening. ‘Chairs’ will be ‘Mediators’ in NATO and will be tasked with helping to find the necessary common ground to help advance negotiations. For the MUN adventurer, you do not want to miss this one!

FEES
VERY IMPORTANT: Please be aware that all payments will have to be made at the end of this registration form. Therefore, please make sure you have your debit/credit card with you. Payments can be made using VISA, Mastercard or American Express. In case you can only use another card to pay (such as debit cards), please do not hesitate to contact conference@kulmun.be.
The delegate fee (€ 100,-) includes committee sessions, all lunches, the committee dinner and access to all socials. It does not cover breakfast, dinners and drinks at some socials.
Additionally, KULMUN offers all delegates a stay in the IBIS Budget Hotel, close to the Leuven train station (breakfast included). Extra nights are always an option. More detailed information regarding the accommodation & fees can be found on our website.
The fee to participate in the pre-conference activity (EU Parliament visit in Brussels) will be € 10,-

By registering for KU Leuven Model United Nations Conference 2018 (hereafter referred to as “KULMUN vzw” or “the organisation”) and using this website you are deemed to have read and agreed to the following terms and conditions: 

1. Liability
a) The organising team of the KULMUN conference are all volunteers.The participant, whose application and thus participation in the conference has been accepted, hereby agrees to indemnify the organisation against any and all losses, claims, costs, charges, expenses, damages and liabilities whatsoever which the participant may incur as a result of participation in the event.
b) If your legal interests are infringed upon, KULMUN vzw and each team member shall only be responsible for intent or gross negligence.
c) You shall hold the student association KULMUN vzw only accountable if other regress is unavailable.
d) Participants are obliged to abide by the Belgian law during whole time of the conference. Any use of illegal drugs, criminal activities or any violations of the law will result in participant´s expulsion from the whole conference and the participant may be held criminally liable. In the case of the expulsion of participant no claims for refund can be made. 

2. Personal Data
To apply, you will send personal data to us. This is what we will do with it:
a) We will respect the participant’s privacy and acknowledge that the participant’s personal data is important to him/her.
b) We will save and use the data for your participation at the conference.
c) We reserve the right to transfer your data (in anonymised form) to sponsors for statistics and financing purpose.
d) Without your explicit consent, any identifiable data (including contact information) will not be disclosed to any other third party. 

3. Media
a) The conference will have an official photographer. The participant can be photographed and/or be filmed during the conference.
b) KULMUN vzw reserves the right to use any video or photo footage from the conference and social events for its website, social networks and further promotion of the event and/or for archival purposes.
c) KULMUN vzw claims copyright on all materials, photos, logos and articles on its website and social networks. No data can be used by third parties without the permission of the organisation or proper credit.
d) The copyright of any such material shall be owned by the organisation without payment or compensation to the participants portrayed in the media. 

4. Refund Policy
In case of a cancellation, the conference fee and accommodation payment are strictly non-refundable, except if the participants failed to obtain a visa, as stated in 5(b). 

5. Visa procedure
a) KULMUN vzw will provide invitation letters and ease the visa procedure to all participants requiring visa to enter Europe. However, the organisation bears no responsibility for unsuccessful visa claims.
b) In case the participant fails to obtain a visa with the help of KULMUN vzw, his/her conference fee will be returned in full amount to his account within three weeks after notification to the organisation.
